Recently added an Envy 7855 to our home network. A win 10 Pro 64-bit machine and a Win 7 Pro 64-bit machine can both print to it via wireless. But a win Pro 8.1 64-bit machine cannot.
Driver from HP (HP-Envy-EN7800_Full_WebPack_44.3.2218.exe) seems to install OK. I can see the printer in "Devices and Printers". But any attempt to print quickly fails. Attempting to print from Excel 2016, for example, produces this message:
Your file could not be printed due to an error on HP Envy Photo 7855 on e03L. There are several possible reasons:
- There may not be enough available memory
- If you use a network for printing, there may be a problem with the network connection or the printer driver
- There may be loose cables or a bad connection between your computer and printer
Even printing a, a test page from the printer's queue window fails instantly: Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?
Windows troubleshooter only suggests making the Envy the default printer - which does not help.
Have tried many things including letting the "HP Easy Start for Windows Printer Utility" install the driver (which is the same driver listed above that I downloaded and installed myself).
My machine has 24 GB of ram (with 17.9 gb available at the moment), lots of hard drive free space. Given that 2 other computers print to the Envy 7855 regularly without problems, there are no network problems or loose cables or a bad connection.
FWIW, I gave the printer a static IP address (should not matter).
The network environment is a Windows Domain LAN with a PDC server.
Anyone have a clue what's going on here or how to resolve it?
