HP Deskjet 9600 series and Windows 8 driver?

Hi All,

      I've got an HP Deskjet 9650 that I bought a few years ago.  I'm running Windows 8 on all my machines at the moment, and the printer is listed as not being supported under Windows 8:

Has anyone found a workaround for this?  I know the printer is kind of old at this point, but it still works great, and the new HP model that replaced it has *exactly* the same features, so there's no point in replacing it just to get a working driver.

I just need basic printing functionality... ideas?  I tried installing it in my Win XP virtual machine, but that doesn't work.
