Change region of HP Photosmart 7510

Hi. I purchased an HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-One Printer - C311a  while living in Hong Kong and just relocated to the UK. Due to HP printer regionalization, the printer is not compatible with ink cartridges sold in the EMEA region.

 

I've read that you can call HP support to generate a special code to change a printer's region up to 3 times, but you can only call support with a valid warranty. I attempted to extend the warranty of this printer, but the HP Carepack website tells me "Unfortunately, the warranty of this product can no longer be extended."

 

This printer is not very old, still in great condition and I just spent £100 on HP photo paper and ink cartridges (before I learned that they won't work). I get the feeling HP would tell me either I wasted my money or I can waste more money by buying a Photosmart 7520.

 

Is there any other way to change the region of this printer? If not, it seems my only options are to cut my losses and buy 3rd party ink cartridges or switch to Canon printers.

IP address changed after power outage

I finally got the printer up and running on my wifi network and it prints and scans fast and quiet.  However, there was a power outage and when I got everything back up, the IP address on printer wifi had changed. Is there any way to change the printer IP address or do I just send out a new connection program to the remote devices?

Can't print multiple envelopes

Created a .docx of addresses on envelopes I want to print. It will only let me select one envelope to print. If I select multiple envelopes it acts like it wants to begin the process but nothing happens. It does not end up in the queue, except for once when it said status..."spooling"....otherwise nothing happens. Prints one envelope fine. 

Also offers message at first saying margins are outside printable area. Clicking "print anyways" doesn't help. I tried changing margins on a series of 4 envelopes and printing them...still won't print.

Have run it through the Print and Scan Doctor which said it fixed something and all should be good...still won't print.

 

Tried to find online support...$99 to answer my question.

Tried for warrenty help...says my serial number doesn't exist.

Tried for support...said HP no longer supports this product.(really! - I bought it 2 days ago!)

 

Pretty fed up with HP at this point...hoping someone can change my mind....hoping this is something super simple and I'll never have to look to HP again for help....wasted 2.5 hours so far....sure makes the sale price leave a bad taste....

Sorry for the rant....just had to express my frustration.

Still print issue with hard reset

I have recieved an error message (Printer in error state) and searched the forums.  I learned to do a hard re-set, and have done that several times.  The printer will copy and print an item, but when I try to print from my computer I still get the Printer in error state message.  How can I resolve this issue?  Thanks for any help!

false carriage jam message Officejet Pro 6830

I bought an Officejet Pro 6830 on 29 November, 2015 because I got what I thought was "a good deal"; however, my old printer was still working OK so I didn't try to install the new one until August!  When installed, according to all HP instructions, it WOULD NOT WORK!!!

 

So, HP sent a replacement, promptly I should add.  The replacement was a Refurbished product, which worked beautifully until around 18 November.  A couple of days later, say on 20 November, I tried to print again and got the "Carriage Jam" message.  So, I completed all the steps suggested my HP to try to remedy the problem, but Nothing Worked.

 

So, I submitted a support request on the website, which said that my warranty had expired.  3 days passed and no response.  So, I went to the HP website again, asked it to 'find' my equipment, which it did, BUT, it once again said my warranty had expired, this time giving me a date in August, 2016 (same time I installed the replacement).  I submitted a request again, and now 3 days later I still have NOT received any response from HP!

 

This is absolutely the worst printer I have ever owned and HP has the absolute worst customer support in the world!!!

Envy 5530 Paper Tray Door

I've had this Envy 5530 for a while now and I've always wondered if I needed to leave the paper tray door open, as my wife does print to it remotely from her Chromebook. It would look better with it closed.

 

I was ordering a 4650 for a gift and it was mentioned on a YouTube video that the door opens automatically when you print. I thought I'd give that a try on the 5530, but the door didn't open and it didn't prevent it from printing. The paper curled up inside and got jammed. I was able to get it out with a steady pull. I was surprised that having the door closed didn't prevent it from printing.

 

I can't find any mention of the door being opened or closed in the manual. Does that sound normal, or am I missing something here?

Ink Management for 5 cartridge printer?

I'm wondering if there is a way to customize when the photo black ink gets used by the printer? I rarely print photos at home, but it is a family printer, so every time someone prints a recipe or some other garbage with a photo, the printer uses the photo black ink for the photo part of the printed item. Which means the very, very few times I want to print something at home I NEVER have ink and it genuinely irks me. The photo black cartridges are not cheap, even in comparison to the regular black cartridge. It's a huge waste. I'd pull the photo cartridge, but then the printer freaks out and won't print anything even if there is a regular black cartridge. This is absolutely ridiculous. And because of chips, I can't even just swap the fresh cartridge for an old cartridge to save something for just when I need it for its actual purpose. I'm just about ready to give this thing away and buy a non 5 cartridge printer.

New HP Officejet 6540 can not be detected in wireless

Have tried to setup this printer with wireless setup wizard on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, and none of them can detect this printer on the same network. Manually input the IP address to the wizard does not work too.

 

I also changed this printer IP from DHCP to static, same thing.

 

The only way it can detect the printer is via windows "Add a device" where it pops up a list of devices in which 2 printers named with "Direct-*-4650". Not sure which one to choose. Choose anyone of them will enable you to connect to that printer one time. Next time, this printer can not print anymore.

 

One observation is for Officejet 4650, it can not be pinged; unlike my other Deskjet 3050A, its IP is pingable.

Run printer doctor tool too and it just hangs and sucks CPU forever without getting anything back. What a joking tool.

 

Please help me out if possible.

Newly purchased Officejet 5740 will not connect to network

I have purchased an officejet 5740 today (26/11/16) to replace an elderly HP Printer which could no longer cope with more than 2 pages.

I have been trying to set the thing up for hours - I have installed and re-installed drivers + software 10-12 times and the printer will not function at all - it keeps displaying PRINTER ERROR PLEASE TURN OFF AND BACK ON ----doing this makes absolutely no difference as the same message shows again.

My laptop (Toshiba Satellite on 64 bit Windows 10)  says drivers have failed to install, yet the software download seems complete

This cycle is absolutely endless, there appears no logical solution for the printer failing   to set up - i have trawled the Help pages, I cannot find any remotely useful info

 

Can anyone help?

HP Scanjet 4635 - Copy and Scan print black pages

When we try to copy a page or scan a page directly from the printer, the resulting pages are full of lines (probably would be solid black if it was a laser printer).

 

Have done the following:

- Hard reset

- Downloaded and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This did update the firmware, but no change to printout.

 

Note: This printer prints excellent. We just can't scan or copy. So network and computer settings don't matter at this point.

 

Any suggestions?

I have a envy hp printer. I have a file in the que, which is 14 pages. I am unable to print this, or cancel this, or delete this file. Nor clear the que. Also I am unable to print anything, seems like this file is the problem. Please help.

False Paper Jam new DeskJet 3637 won't print

I can't get new DeskJet 3637 to print.  It shows error code 3E,  yet no paper jam can be found.  Updated firmware & chat with Tech Support didn't solve.

Fax memory frequently full even with low use

I frequently get "memory full" message requiring resetting of the fax memory even though I am not sending or recieving that many faxes (1-2 per day).  Annoying when it happens mid-way through sending or receiving a fax.

 

Checking the available memory confirms:

- total memory 786432 KB

- available memory 180268 KB

 

And this does NOT change even after a hard reset of the printer.

 

Does the printer use this memory to store other info such as OS, presets, etc.?

 

How much memory should I expect to be available for fax storage?

 

Any ways to increase available memory?  Seems it can't be physically expanded right?

HP Photosmart D110 All-in-one, wireless connection No Filtering FAIL Connected FAIL

The printout for failing to connect says FAIL for No filtering.

 

My printer was working fine until today and now it won't connect to the network.  I reset it to the default settings and also reset/restarted the printer, computer, and router multiple times.  

 

 My router settings online say the MAC filtering is disabled but I am having the same issue - FAIL for No filtering.
