I am using an Officejet Pro 8600 ALl-in-One N911g, hardwired to my 27" iMac (mid-2010), running Mac OSX 10.8.3. This configuration worked well until about one month ago.
To ensure that this is not a software / driver issue, I went to the Apple Software Update site, and downloaded the most recent set of drivers, installed them, and then turned the printer off to install the softwareon the printer, then back on.
The problem is that I can direct print jobs to the printer, and they print. However, at the end of the job, it remains (although it says "100% complete") in the queue for approximately 30 seconds before clearing the queue for the next job. In fact, just before that clearing occurs, i hear a sound from the print heads that seems as if they are returning to a "final position."
I also can place the printer in a network, and have many different Macs (all running OSX 10.8.3) direct jobs to the printer simultaneously. When I do this, there does not appear to be any delays in clearing the queue.
So, what might cause a hardwired printer to have this sort of delay? And, is there any action (other than manually clearing the queue) that I might take to clear up this issue?
Thanks for your help / suggestions.
