Laserjet 2200dtn goes offline Windows 8.1

Title says it all.  Printer prints fine, then, after a period, Win8.1 reports printer offline.

Drivers do not help.  I was using Universal PCL 5 (v5.7.0), tried using a PS Driver, same result.

There was a patch which seemed like it would do the trick (Microsoft Hotfix for Printing Issue Windows 8.1 448356_intl_x64_zip) but that doesn't seem to do anything.

I must be missing a configuration trick somewhere.  Anyone?
