I was trying to print a black/white document today. The last time that I used the printer (about a week ago) it worked fine. Today the page came out black except for a faint blue ghost of a line item on the page -- so I am sure that the image was sent to the printer. I assumed that the black ink cartridge needed replacement so that is what I did (I had not received a low ink alert). The alignment page (and subsequent test pages) do not print the black. Color seems to be printing appropriately.
I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps that I could find, including cleaning around the cartridges and reloading the drivers.
This unit was sent to me by HP as a replacement for an earlier unit that failed in the same way. Since this was a certified reconditioned unit there is no support or warranty available.
Is there something I can do to get this one functioning again, or is it destined for the recycle bin and time to try another brand?
