I have an HP Photosmart C4795 that I have not been able to use for a while. When I send a document to the printer, it will pull the paper but then stop. The paper will sit there half fed and the screen says printing with the red 'x' lit up, however it never actually prints. I uninstalled and then installed the driver and this did not help. I found some information about needing to update the firmware but when I plugged in the USB cable to run the firmware update the computer could not recognize the device (printer). I originally installed the printer for wireless set up. Do I need to reinstall the printer but with a usb set up so that I can then install the firmware update? Is there a way to install the driver for both usb and wireless at the same time? Will the firmware update even fix this problem? It isn't jamming, it just starts to print and then stops.
I tried calling HP support but they refused to help me unless I paid for support for the product I bought and doesn't work. I'm hoping I can can some info on here or I will have to buy another printer, which case would be another brand I would never buy another HP product again. I would think HP would want to help me with something like a printer if that meant keeping me as a customer when I update to my next computer. My current computer is HP but if I have to go buy another printer because HP won't help their customers then I will be going with Toshiba or something else for my next computer purchase.
