I'm ready to throw this printer in the trash. I used to have it set up to print wirelessly through my router, but when we moved, the router is not near the printer anymore, so I needed to print via USB cable. I had previously installed the 709n software, so uninstalled that, and installed the709a software.
I cannot print, I cannot scan. I did the level 4 uninstaller, twice. I went through and deleted any folders with HP on them. I installed the latest software. All went well EXCEPT it says the imaging device cannot be found. I ran the HP Scan and Print Doctor. It says all should be fine, and so I click to print a test page. Nada. I tell it that, and it prints an "internal test page" (whatever that is), which prints fine. So it says it's a problem it can't fix and I need to uninstall and re-install (which I've now done TWICE).
If I try to print something, it gives me an error message that says "The handle is invalid."
I don't think it should be this difficult to get a printer to work. This is ridiculous and if I can't get it working, I'll be buying another printer, which is sad as this one works perfectly fine from my hubby's computer! (He never had it set up to print wirelessly so has always printed via USB. He also has Windows 7).
Help please! And don't tell me to use Scrubber, or Level 4 uninstaller -- I've done all that. I've read every post on here and none of those tips have helped at this point.
TIA.
