can't print pdf from the new windows 8.1

Hi,

recently purchased and installed the HP officejet 7500A wide and all works fine except I can't print pdf from the pdf application of windows 8.1 ??? 

for example I open a pdf doc then right click to bring the options - select print - then select the printer, check the parameters like orientation, page, colour etc and then click print - the timer thingy starts but nothing happens ???

I tried then to print from open office - fine, from my web developping application, fine ... don't get it ???

Can someone help me please
