- I have an Officejet 6500 E710n-z & the older E709n (one for home, one for office). I'm using a Mac, but I don't think that's relevant. The E710n-z had a problem printing black. After cleaning the heads, advanced cleaning the heads, manually cleaning the heads, aligning, a partial-full reset and over 2 hours in a chat w/tech support, they finally determined that I needed a new printhead assembly. Because of what I assume is a communication problem, they are not sending me a replacement. The E709n works fine. I will be getting a new non-HP printer, but in the meantime I'd like to install the E709n's printhead in the E710n-z so I can use the newer printer (there are a couple of changes that make it better for me). They use the same ink cartridges. Are the printheads exactly the same? Any reason not to do that? Will I have any problems configuring the printer once I've made the swap?
- HP recommends keeping partly used but still good cartridges in an airtight container. I just put the orange cap back on, but I'm wondering if that is sufficient since the vent is exposed?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
